SATcase LTD
Integrating existing hardware into
user-friendly app

THE BRIEF
SATcase needed a mobile solution to provide an intuitive user experience to control their smart device. The objective was to keep the app design extremely easy to use, as it can provide emergency support for users in a difficult situation.
THE PROBLEM
The existing technology was complex, so The Distance began by assessing it from a technical solution perspective before focusing on users and use cases. This was crucial, as integration was central to the app’s purpose.
We worked closely with SATcase to understand their current technology stack, ensuring we could efficiently integrate it with the new mobile application.

THE SOLUTION
A failsafe end-to-end solution was architected utilising The Core as a backend solution. Using small packets of information to transfer data between the device, satellite, cloud services and emergency service providers to reduce bandwidth costs.
This allowed us to build a React Native, cross-platform application that utilised the device's Bluetooth capabilities to give the users an application that interacted with the existing hardware.
THE RESULTS
The cross-platform app and backend now provide an essential part of the product, giving users and our client a cutting-edge mobile-first solution to a previously very complicated challenge.
