THE BRIEF

Vybn set out to give venues a unique way to connect discounts with real marketing value. The goal was to tie the discounts offered to individuals and influencers directly to the social media exposure those individuals could generate.

By quantifying each user’s social reach, Vybn ensures that the value of the discount is proportionate to the promotional benefit, creating a win-win for both the venue and the customer.

THE PROBLEM

Vybn recognised a gap in how social media and discounting intersected. Businesses often promote experiences, products, and venues through Instagram stories, hoping to drive new customers through organic exposure. Meanwhile, many consumers are more than happy to share content in exchange for a small discount, but discovering these offers isn’t always easy.

On the flip side, businesses struggle to measure the true value of the exposure they receive from discount schemes. Without clear data, it’s hard to tell whether the return justifies the cost, and many vendors lose money on poorly structured promotions.

THE SOLUTION

The Distance partnered with Vybn to develop a discount app that uses Instagram Story views to calculate the value of a user’s discount. This benefits consumers by offering money-off deals, while ensuring that merchants receive measurable marketing exposure in return.

Users earn discounts by uploading screenshots of their Instagram Stories featuring participating venues. Meanwhile, vendors use the app to promote their bar, restaurant, or event by offering tailored discounts in exchange for that exposure.

Beyond the transactional element, the app also captures valuable data, helping businesses enhance their marketing analytics and refine future campaigns for better targeting and impact.
